Playful Living Lab publishes an article in the International Journal of Food Design
The Playful Living Lab, a department of the Escola Universitària de les Arts ERAM, has published a new article in the International Journal of Food Design, a scientific journal ranked in the Q1 quartile of the Visual Arts and Performing Arts category according to SCImago indicators.
How can we design gastronomic experiences that are both delightful and provocative? Insights from creating Anòmala is an article that presents the insights gained from the design, prototyping and testing process of the L’Anòmala project. The installation takes the form of a pop-up restaurant and combines gastronomy with interactive audiovisual and multimedia elements. The proposal was conceived and prototyped as an interactive and immersive gastronomic experience within the framework of the Transmedia Projects course.
The project was developed using a Research through Design methodology, exploring how a gastronomic experience can combine enjoyment with elements capable of encouraging reflection. Based on an analysis of the design process and the implementation of the prototype, the article identifies a range of insights that may be useful for the development of new interactive and participatory gastronomic experiences.
The article is authored by Tate Climent Colell, Pau Sonet Martínez, Carla Jimenez Simon, Núria Jordán Sánchez, Laia Perelló Vall, Marta Sánchez Gutierrez, Maribel Serrano Puigmitjà and Ferran Altarriba Bertran.
This publication builds on the knowledge previously developed around L’Anòmala, which was also presented at the EFOOD 2024 conference, and contributes to consolidating the Playful Living Lab’s research line in experience design and interaction.
This project highlights the work carried out by the Playful Living Lab and, by extension, by ERAM, to provide students with opportunities to participate in high-level international research projects.
