ERAM students’ short film AKO to be screened at the Sitges Film Festival
On Saturday, October 10, the short film AKO, created by students from ERAM’s Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual and Multimedia Communication, will be screened at Cinema Casino Prado as part of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival.
The screening will begin at 2:45 p.m. and will feature ten short films selected for the Nova Autoria category, including AKO.
The screening is part of Nova Autoria, a section that showcases short films created by students from Catalan universities and film schools. The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the SGAE Foundation and the SGAE Territorial Council in Catalonia, with the selected works chosen from a preselection process carried out by the participating universities and schools.
The short films selected for Nova Autoria are also eligible for the Best Direction, Best Original Screenplay and Best Original Music awards, which recognise different aspects of filmmaking by emerging generations.
AKO is a domestic thriller set in the 1980s that follows sisters Anna and Aina during a winter night. What begins as an innocent game of Snakes and Ladders gradually turns into an unsettling experience that reveals the complexity of their relationship and connects them to a dark force that extends beyond the game board.
Through horror and mystery, the short film explores issues such as control, manipulation and the repetition of family roles, turning the game into a metaphor for dynamics that seem impossible to escape.
A project by Jan Coll, Emma Clapés and Genís Sañé, featuring Farners Johé, Simon Pagès, Mònica Sala Otin, Irati Larreategi and Albert Fernández.
