Alberto Díaz participates in the series Gènesi, which premieres at the San Sebastián Film Festival
On Monday, 21 September, Gènesi premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, a new series directed by David Pujol featuring Alberto Díaz, actor and lecturer on the ERAM Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts.
Alberto Díaz is part of the series’ cast, portraying renowned Catalan chef Santi Santamaria. The project features a cast led by Miquel Fernández, Mónica López, Ivan Massagué and Carlos Cuevas.
Gènesi explores the beginnings of the gastronomic revolution led by Ferran Adrià at elBulli during the 1980s. The story begins with the almost accidental arrival of a young Adrià in the restaurant’s kitchens, an unexpected opportunity that would eventually become the starting point for a profound transformation of contemporary cuisine.
The series combines this storyline, set in the 1980s, with a story set in 2025. Following the death of her father, Glòria returns to Catalonia and reunites with her niece Lola and the family restaurant, Can Canabach. This situation will lead them to confront the wounds and conflicts of the past.
Beyond elBulli’s culinary revolution, Gènesi highlights traditional Catalan cuisine, fine dining in Catalonia, locally sourced produce and the landscape.
Following its premiere at the San Sebastián Film Festival, Gènesi will also be available to watch on 3Cat and Netflix.
