He works as a consultant and researcher in the implementation and design of Serious Games (Applied Games) and gamification campaigns. Òscar is a lecturer at the first University School of Video Games and Serious Games in Barcelona (ENTI-UB), in the online Master’s in Gamification and Transmedia Storytelling (IEBS), and within the Serious Games Lab incubation initiative.
He also actively participates in European research projects such as Gamewise, gameBIZ, Playing for Real, JamToday, Robogenius, interSTEM, and i-Game. In addition, he collaborates as a senior gamification consultant at Cookie Box, a consultancy specialized in this field.
He is part of the Forbes Top 100 Creative People list and has been a speaker at TEDx events.
Dr. Oscar García Pañella holds a PhD in Electronic Engineering and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Entertainment Technology. He has undertaken several international research stays, including at the IMSC (Integrated Media Systems Center, USC, USA, 1998), the VIS Lab (UCI, USA, 2005), and the Entertainment Technology Center (CMU, USA, 2008–2009).

His recent presentations, articles, and lectures address topics such as “Augmenting Knowledge through Games and Interaction,” “Gaining Soft Skills within a Technologies for Virtuality Course,” “Soft Skills within a Project-Based Approach: A Multimedia Engineering Degree,” “Edutainment in Multimedia Education: Designing Professional Profiles,” “Unboxing Education,” and “Co-creating the Pandemic and Post-Pandemic School,” among others.
