ERAM Opens the Arts and Creativity to People Over 50 years old, Through the Josep Torrellas Program
The University School of Arts joins the senior program of the University of Girona, offering undergraduate courses in Performing Arts, Audiovisual Studies, and Fashion without requiring prior qualifications.
Girona, December 12, 2025 – The ERAM University School of Arts has announced today its integration into the Josep Torrellas Program of the University of Girona (UdG). The event, held in the Rafel Llussà classroom of the Faculty of Arts, featured speeches by ERAM Director Miquel Bisbe and Program Coordinator Steph Watson.
With this initiative, ERAM reaffirms its commitment to lifelong learning, opening its classrooms to people over 50 years old, who wish to explore or deepen their knowledge in the fields of performing arts, audiovisual communication, multimedia, or fashion.
University education without barriers
The main innovation of this collaboration is the possibility for senior students to be fully involved in the day-to-day life of undergraduate degrees. The Josep Torrellas Program is known for its flexibility and accessibility:
- No academic requirements: No prior qualifications are needed to enroll.
- Personalized pathway: Students can register for individual courses according to their interests, without having to complete an official degree.
- Full integration: Participants share spaces and instruction with undergraduate students, fostering enriching intergenerational exchange.
- Access to services: As enrolled students, they have full access to all university services at UdG.
A new creative horizon for the senior community
During the presentation, Miquel Bisbe emphasized that ERAM’s entry into the program allows “highly creative and technological disciplines to reach an active and culturally engaged audience, who often have not had the opportunity to study these fields.”
Steph Watson highlighted that the program is not only focused on knowledge transfer but also on personal and social development, reinforcing the role of the university as an open and diverse space.
