Òpera 2025
This project aims to identify audiovisual language as the key element of each director’s style.
Through the study of the director’s figure and their tools, it seeks to demonstrate that one director’s interpretation of the same anecdote can completely change its value and meaning, through the creation of a stylistic and aesthetic proposal.
Regarding the theoretical framework, a short film called Òpera has been produced to put this research into practice, with its most significant reference being Michael Haneke’s film Funny Games. The premise is almost the same, but the work seeks to differentiate itself through a more contemporary language and style.
Synopsis
Maria is preparing dinner for her husband when suddenly there is a knock at the door. Adam and Bruno, two young, slender, and very polite men, appear. They seemingly need help, as they have had a car breakdown. The scene begins to become uncomfortable when Maria questions the young men’s version of events in front of her husband.
The short film features students from the Performing Arts degree as the film’s protagonists.
A project by Caterina Mayol Umbert.
