Transformation of Nostalgia into a Functional Tool through a Mobile Application
This project aims to transform nostalgia into a functional object and tool: a mobile application.
Conceived as an interactive platform, people will pour in their nostalgic memories and feelings about them. It is a space to share and recall memories with both the community and oneself.
The user will create their own map and memory board, thus forming an easily accessible drawer to relive and share transcendent experiences worth remembering.
The work begins with a study of the anatomy of nostalgia, aiming to verify that it is primarily a positive emotion, despite being bittersweet, as it mixes joy with sorrow. Its functioning is analyzed—how it is triggered, how it influences individuals and society, and its relationship with the past, present, and future. Once the theory and psychology of nostalgia are understood, it is brought into the world of art by identifying its essence and representing it through graphic design.
The ultimate goal is for the decision, installation, and use of the application to arise from the human emotion itself and the connectivity with nostalgia, along with the desire to share it with loved ones and meet other individuals who also feel it warmly.
