Lia Vilahur Chiaraviglio


Graphic design

Graduated in History of Art at the Universitat Autonoma in Barcelona (UAB) 1998- 2001 with one year as an exchange student in the Alma Mater Studiorum, Università degli studi di Bologna,  Department of Art, Music, and Performance.

Her second degree is Interior Design at the Instituto Europeo di Design in Milano (IED) 2001-2004, with one exchange year at Lahti University of Applied Science in the Field of Industrial-Interior design. Awarded with Magda Cum Laude. (100/100) her Thesis was exhibited.

She continued her studies with the Renewable Energies and Sustainability Studies course by the Instituto Tecnológico (MasterD). Since then she has regularly followed Congress and education events. In her opinion education is a never-lasting path that enriches her professional and personal life.

Her area of expertise and interest is Colour, Material, and trim. ( Colour, Material y Textura), not only as a designer and educator by also as a researcher, as she collaborates with Materio, Material & Innovation Research Center of FAD, Fostering Arts and Design Centre of Barcelona.


Professional career

She is currently ERAM, University of Girona, responsible for International Communication and is in charge of the public relations with International Universities and other educational institutions, especially in Asia and Latin America.

She worked as a professor, 2005-20014, in the Instituto Europeo in Barcelona, teaching in Spanish and English the subjects of CMF: color material and texture, Lighting design, Light Design, Design foundation, Project communication, Presentation techniques, Design Projects, and History of Advertising, Design, and Typography among others. Thanks to her multidisciplinary experience she taught in the Degree of Interior, Industrial, Transportation, Graphics and Art direction in both Bachelor and Master level in IED and in the Institute of  Advanced Architecture of Catalonia, IAAC

During 2006 -2007 she managed the External coordination of the Degree in Interior Design of the IED Barcelona. For the same University Institution was she delivered workshops in collaboration with the industry,  like More Light: Design with aluminum Company Océano Oltreluce, the OLED technology research Company PPML, Product design Company VALVI, or the  Light Installation of National Art Museum of Catalonia MNAC.

In 2009 she co-founded, with Eric Olivares, the Multidisciplinary design studio Inlightdesign, among other projects they did web design, graphic identity- branding, prints for textiles, wayfinding systems and they also wrote the book Drawing for Graphic Designers, published in 2012 by Parramon-Paidotribo. The same year that the studio moved to Girona and its team and facilities enlarged, a new line of products was founded, Payes, together with a more international design projects activity like Newgen, Beijing Design Week stand, and Graphic Design.

In Girona, the team of Inlightdesign studio had the opportunity to collaborate with EUERAM, first as Coordinator and designer of the Campaign of the Eram College Crossmedia Studies. And later on, Lia Vilahur becomes the Programme Leader (BA)  in Graphic Communication of the Northampton University in Girona and left the company to fully dedicate herself to this new position and in the International Communication of the Eram University.

Since then she has been also actively participating in workshops and talks in Latin-American, Europe, and Asia, working as a designer, and exhibiting her design and artwork worldwide.
